okay s52 swapped as many know. It was done in MA, when I came up to CO it seemed that there was a power reduction or it is running a little bit rich. Anyone know why this could have happened? I thought the ECU's account for this type of thing and adapt to the current environment. Is the MAF bad? really struggles at altitudes above 8000ft so driving to ski can be a nightmare when i'm being passed by shitty Corollas, anybody have some insight for me? no current check engine lights.

You do have over 20% loss in power at that elevation. How slow are we talking?
try another S52 ECU. Seriously, that could do it. I have heard of cars that just never adjust to altitude, and I heard it from an experienced mechanic buddy that works at Bolder (sic) Auto in Boulder.
getting any codes?

Try driving up Mt. Evans or Pike's Peak sometime...
low voltage code to ECU will cause bad things. usually not enough voltage to drive some of the sensors right.
That's a high priority fix right there.
