or a cone filter or CAI?

cone filter-build your own using an adapter, square to round. heat shield optional

CAI-kamotors + some plastic hoses to grill, you can delete a highbeam and run it like that.

Don't bother, you will lose power. It is well documented, search for it.

Tune up, chip and a 3.73 LSD will transform your car. Don't waste money on useless crap. No one on Ebay knows as much as the guys in Germany.

My car's PO put on an intake manifold from a 325i. Don't know if it's better, but it looks cool.

Well I was told it's got a dinan chip.. ( I have the dirty exhaust car from boulder if you remember it from CL) I welded a new exhaust but was stupid and didn't get a high flow cat:/ just tryin to get a little more power out of it. Thinking of a comforti chip instead? Ive seen the high beam delete and I don't think it looks right. I dunno.. Any ideas? An 3.73 LSD is a little out of the budget right now:/

best bang for the buck is a chip, but you already have one....i'd say do maintenance, seafoam the engine, highflow cat is a must.

you dont have to delete a highbeam, you can do run hosing anywhere...
new diff will DRAMATICLY make a difference.

I have seen 3.73s in good condition sell for as little as $100 and as much as $500.

How do you know for damn sure your car is shipped? "PO said so" never ever cuts it with me.

Obviously not, but everyone talks about BMW as if they made the most absolutely perfect engine. They had to make some compromises. If the design is so great, wouldn't the engines make a lot more than 168hp from the factory?

a CAI on an E30 is rarely a benefit, the E30 has a pretty efficient air box. GRM did a test where they lost 5 hp when they ditched the stock box for a cone filter and no heat shield. With a really good heat shield and proper air routing, it is possible that a cone filter may help.
