    Any advice/suggestions?

In advance, please pardon some of my word choices, I am getting very fed up with this whole deal.

So in a nut shell: 4 months ago I traded a laptop, a ski rack, and sound system for the bmw, the guy said he lost the title. No big deal, plan for the car was to be a trailer skank any way. Then he said he found the title, and wanted $300 on top of what was traded and what was agreed upon in the bill of sale. I said suck a fat one, trade is said and done, send the title. Then he said his mom had the title and she would send it after he signed it and he sent me a copy of the title via certified mail. I did a vin check(car is squeaky clean) and the copy he sent me was the old title(registered in CO to his mom), the new title is registered in Georgia, however, the car, his fam, and his mom all live in denver/aurora and thanks to the internet, they all have lived here quite some time. He then wanted to trade back with me trailering the car back to aurora, again, I said deepthroat a veiny one and said he can come up here and get it with all my stuff in the condition it was traded or I'll leave it on the side of the road and let it get impounded and it would no longer be my problem(bluff), he said the title would be sent shortly after once his mom was back in town(2 months ago), and it hasn't. I've been texting daily/every other day with very limited response/no answer at all. So basically I have a signed bill of sale, a copy of title, 4 months of texts with this guy, and a car that I want to swap an m50b25 into since the current motor needs a costly rebuild(he knew it had a snapped tbelt, and I knew it as well). I have also thought about trading back so I can just be done with this shit already, I have had other offers to do the same terms as what was originally done in this trade but no way to get the car back down. Holy lengthy post batman. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Step 1) never buy a car without title in hand, signed with you as witness, at time of vehicle delivery, even for track cars(next owner might want it as a road car)

Step 2) in case of epic step 1 megafail, talk to iamcreepingdeath (sam). Dude's a used car titling ninja.

So if step (2) manages to work would old title be voided? and Step (3) is still viable, I just don't want to pay to tow a car that isn't mine

Have you talked to the DMV and told them your story? There may be a way to get a title, if you have a signed bill of sale, WITH the VIN on it, and a copy of the title.

Yet you bought a car without one, without looking into how to get one? Not only that, but you didn't try to learn how title transfers work in case of missing title? I'm sorry, but that is just incredibly foolish and shortsighted. What did you think was going to happen?

Live and learn, trade it back to get your things then buy a legit one down the road. Next time, or this time too, do the due diligence and research before doing something. Don't be hasty.

I meant as far as the situation I am in, I'm not sure if I can go in and get a duplicate title after I explain or if it would have to be rebonded/ have the current owner miraculously send a notarized statement relinquishing ownership. I have titled before quite a few times(all cars in my signature except the explorer and obviously the e30 have been owned/titled by me)

And I'll try and see if I can get a trade back arranged but I am doubtful he has all my stuff, let alone in the condition I traded it in.

dude. Get yo' ass into the DMV. Seriously. just ASK. They will at least point you in the right direction.

If all else fails, get one of these.

or just emphasizing how retarded that is... especially for someone who apparently has had 7 cars.
