to save what, $200 vs buying it all as a kit? Penny wise and pound foolish, the hours you'd spend to DIY could be better spent doing something else and not worrying if you have everything included or not.

Cheap and suspension are like oil and water. It just doesn't work, no matter how much you want it to.

    Thanks!

I will throw the racing wheels on when I get home to test that. Probably going to decrease that camber for street use. up it at the track.

Need to stop buying cheap cars and fix one.. I learned the same way.. the more you have the less attention the primarily one does.

    GC = good.

no rear sway e30 = meh. i'd keep it, it will be marginally better with it. Also I agree with Bimmerman, more travel is better in the e30 rear. (insert jokes here)

Yup, keep observations coming! Brad, I'll get on gchat when i'm back at work and we can talk suspensions to keep from hijacking further.

But at least you have parts and are testing. It will be good information as you have stiffer springs then Ben.

Me + Rain last night = tokyo drifting everywhere (granted I WAS trying).

On a related note, Mayfield and some other SCR guys will be at the race. I will see if I can get some of them to ride along and offer suggestions (who knows).

I will be documenting everything I possibly can. This car is for autox, but my budget is not limitless :p. That said I am all for changing the setup over time until I am satisfied.
I like to think of myself as a consistent driver, but with so few runs, and changing tire temps, it is kinda hard to tell.

$2,500 or so, maybe more if there is a reason.

I don't want to make the rear end more nervous by getting very stiff rear springs. Not only for track but for driving in the rain too. I'm not worried about the fronts, just getting shortened housings, but the rear is where I have options. I don't want to go bigger then my M3 rear sway bar either.

    What's your budget?

You could do a hodgepodge of singles front and remote doubles rear, that shouldn't be too much more, cost-wise over the singles, and provide lots of travel. But, diminishing returns and points and all.

Ben has proven, and quite well, that stock front/rear sways with the basic GC singles kit with the shortened housings is a very effective and devastatingly fast setup.

I agree with Bimmerman and that I want as much travel as possible to keep inside rear on the ground, yet be as stiff as possible. I know that I can get different rates, but for now I have shock adjustability and can add, remove, change sways.

I think I will get a lot of feedback saturday as to what the car needs. I am going to look at that Vorschlag e30 and read up on that.

Fixed, but yes. All the suspension engineering theory in the world will be less useful than thorough testing. More travel would help, but the cost to get that more travel is much higher (you could probably call Chris at SCR up and ask about rear remote shocks cost). I wouldn't really worry about it, but try with/without your stock rear bar with actual timing and data acq if you can (iphone-- trackmaster or some such). Feel is subjective, numbers don't lie. Numbers are also useless unless you're a consistent driver.
