I had a work trip in Indianapolis this week and Enterprise rental just got hold of ten new 2011 BMW 328i sedans for their fleet.
Snagging one, I wanted to see what this so-called BMW-hype was all about as I haven't really spent a good amount with an E90.
Ok, so... I'll have to admit, I can begin to see why you guys like your 3-series vehicles so much.
Even with the automatic transmission, and vertially no added options, this was a step up from the Clubman I drive.
The seats are soft on surface level, but narrow and well fitted on the lumber and hips.
Even with the power seat risers, I had a ton of head room for my tall-ass. Astounding!
The 3.0L (at 230hp) isn't slow, but the high RPMs are much preferred; I kept the tranny in DS (sport drive) mode almost the entire time.
But the kicker was driver feedback; it's been a long time since a car restored quick confindence in cornering and chassis feel.
Suspension was firm but not at all jarring, but don't know if it was the seat absorbing more of the shock.
The tires are the same Continential ContiSportContact 3 SSR's on my Clubman, but the 225/45-R17 front and 255/40-R17 doesn't react nearly as twitchy.
Nonetheless, I think I'm seeing why you guys are guru's about such. ;)
