Hahaha tires are fun...I need to get consistent at 4. There have been times I've been happy with my line and braking point, but countered by more than enough "aw, shit, dirt" moments. Last couple days out at HPR though I managed not to screw it up though...and instead I backed way off in turn 10 also. So it goes.

haha. They're great street tires from all reports, but I prefer star specs on track. Chris let me borrow his set when my RF star spec finally lost all pressure under braking/turn-in for turn 4, which totally saved my day. Hooray puncture. Apparently I picked it up somewhere in Commerce Shitty on I70, and despite only being a couple psi low before the session (I filled it before we went out), it lost all the pressure by the third or fourth lap. One tire can't do the braking and cornering of two, especially when you turn in a bit too early and really need both tires working to avoid the dirt. The data logger gave me quite an interesting GPS trace for that adventure.

The PSSs are great street tires from everyone I've talked to, but on track they just didn't mesh with me. My fastest laps with them before they got greasy (usually 2ish laps into the session) were 2 seconds slower than my punctured star spec warm up laps, same day/driver/all other variables.

What I did like about them on track is that for those two laps, they have a LOT of grip, are responsive, and they are very progressive when they get too hot and go greasy...it's not GRIP GRIP GRIP FFFFUUUUUUUUUCK. In that sense they were easy to drive, but call it overdriving or what-have-you, but I could not get them to work for me. That said, a slower tire is MUCH better than getting towed home. Again. Plus, the engineer in me liked being able to compare the tires.

moral of the story: don't drive to the track on the tires you're going to use, and don't fuck up turn 4.

I will have to see how they work for me and the car. I don't want to buy a dedicated track wheel/tire set so my best bet are the PSS's. They will still blow away Pzero A/S tires.

Oh I totally agree. I was impressed for the first few laps, but the data logger doesn't lie. If I needed one set of tires to do it all, I'd buy the PSS in a heartbeat. They wear ridiculously well and are quiet!

I'm out. Not feeling 100%. Don't want endanger my car or any one else. Or spend the money to and not get the most out of it. Gonna try for later in the month.

I am gonna go to cars and coffee and try totally sone other M Coupes to show up.

Got rid of my first round trip on the 17th. The new oil line didn't fix my leak, but if the weather is good I'm for HPR on the 17th. Want to put my freshly polished car control to use before it fades away.

I'm in on the 17th unless I take the car apart.

Isn't there an autox wiki that lists general class rules for each class without reading the entire rule book? I thought I saw one before but I can't find it. Specifically STX class.

You inspired me. Paid! Does anyone have an OBD II device similar to this I can borrow?

I got an iPad mini, custom mount, and external GPS antenna. Just need OBD II to make Harry's Lap Timer Pro complete. I keep trying to get in touch with them, but customer service is terrible.
