Question:

How might one derp around the Boulder area for between a few hours and half a day? In other words, what FREE (or close to free) things would you guys recommend to do around there? I'm sure there's a ton to do.

Walk the bike trails? Or if you have a bike then ride them. Or even better if you have a mtn bike then go to Valmont bike park.

Excellent idea. Other options are go hiking/biking at chataqua, drive up flagstaff, drive canyon up to ned/estes, go chill in the parks, go try bouldering at the Spot or at Movement if you're a climber, pearl st, movie theater....mall....idk. There are tons of outdoors things to do if you're into that.
