[Colorado] Summer Solstice Drive & BBQ 2012

Hello everyone. My name is Jon Baker. I am the founder of www.metrodubs.com a Volkswagen and Audi club in the Denver Metro area. I was hoping I could invite everyone to an event that we are hosting; Summer Solstice Drive & BBQ!

Last year we had a blast with the new alignment of the drive and BBQ; so why change it? This year, again, we are going to drive first then relax with fellow dubbers, friends, and families for a nice BBQ in the park. We have broken this down into two parts. Of course your entire family is invited, even the dog! Heck, we do not even care if you are in this club, that club or the no club club; just come on out and have fun with like-minded enthusiasts! After all; isn’t this what it is all about?

    Date: June 23, 2012

    The Drive
    Time: 11:00am

Location: Starbucks, 7403 West Chatfield Littleton, CO

Description: Every Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche and all other Euro cars are invited to participate in a nice mountain cruise. We will be driving up some twisties to take in the scenery and enjoy the beautiful landscape and fresh mountain air Colorado has to offer. Safe and courteous driving is what we are looking for. We know there will be roadside traffic on the entire route, so we want to be safe and still fun. We are going to meet in the parking lot just west of Starbucks. There is a Conoco station close and it is easy to get back on Wadsworth to start the drive up the foothills.

    The BBQ
    Time: 2:00pm

    Location: Lions Park‎, 1300 10th Street, Golden, Colorado 80401

Description: Every car, driver and passenger that wants to join us at the park for the BBQ is invited. If you were on the drive or not!! MetroDubs.com will provide the charcoal and some food. Please help out and bring a bag of burgers, side dishes, condiments, plates, napkins and drinks. We will grill up the food and have some good old fashioned fun. BYOB We do have an open container permit. So if you do choose to partake in some canned beer; please do so responsibly.

Amenities: Picnic Shelters, BBQ Grills, Playground, Basketball Court, Volleyball Court, Tennis Court, Walking Paths, & Restrooms.

This is open and free for everyone that is reading this. Again, it does not matter if you are in this club, that club or the no club club. We just want to have an old fashioned good time! Hope to see you there.

I like the idea, but definitely double check the fire bans/fire restrictions in place. It looks like charcoal BBQ is ok so long as its in "permanent grills" in a park....double check though.

Sounds like fun, I might be able to make the BBQ.

Absolutely! It is the park, pavilion, and grills provided by the city of Golden. I'll double check, however they were grilling this past Saturday!

              We should be good!

Sadly I will be mountain biking all day. But I will not be sad that I am missing all the dub shenanigans.
