I've got one in north Colorado Springs that i just took off the m20 i bought from hyperE30. It looks like a small hole has been patched on the front of the pan with some epoxy stuff? Looks like it was done pretty well and i know it doesn't leak (tested with water after i pulled it)

I had an oil pan that was in slightly better condition that i put on instead.

I'll take $40 for it, i can send you a picture a little later today probably.

    Let me know.

      thanks for the reply prores.....

now as for the patch work... how durable is something like the epoxy gonna hold up? Wouldn't that weaken after all the warm up//cool down with the oil, etc?

i'm not familiar with hyperE30's bmw, was the motor running fine?

anyone else run pans that have been patched up? i'm pretty new to this, i thought it was just, omg its broke replace it now....

I dont know really about how well that stuff holds up. As far as i know the engine was running great before it was pulled and like i said it doesn't leak.

Here's a couple pictures of the pan. You can see the epoxy stuff up at the front. Maybe somebody else could let us know if this is a safe pan to run?

Yeah, seems to be pretty safe to run. looks like it may even be extra padding for road debris...

Project is going great, I am finally pulling the old broken m20 out of my car this weekend. Should be putting the new one in the weekend after. I've done timing belt, water pump, thermostat, oil pan gasket, oil pan and cleaned up the engine pretty nice. This should be a big weekend for the e30 with the extra labor day time.

              update....

pan sourced from cali....arrived with no problems..

installing the thing.... jesus what a fucking pain in the ass....

just fyi, the trany bellhousing for AT's covering the pan is just moronic...that long torx bolt on the upper drivers side....argh.

              got it on though.
              no leaks.
              no funny shit.

except my oil light is on now, guess the sender got fucked somehow, so now i need a new one of those....

You have to jack the engine up or drop the front subframe to do an m20 oilpan, right?

yeah Lambo... i noticed some ppl mentioned they jacked it up off the tranny, but i opted to use the AC bracket instead.

pop the motor mounts, not completely though, just enough to jack it up without having to reseat//realign the whole thing, and bam.

and yes. shitty job. bastard inaccessible 10mm bolts suck balls. a ratcheting wrench is invaluable here, otherwise you're reduced to 1/16 turn to loosen the shits...
