Fun to drive when everything works. Granted, it's still an Audi so it handles like ass, but the boost is fun.
Turbochargers - they don't last much further beyond 100k miles. Granted I knew about this when I bought the car, as I actually bought the car to replace the turbos and then drive it.
Turbo replacement - the whole fucking engine has to come out to replace them. Audis piss me off with their service positions.
The service position for the B5 S4: front-end off, power-train removed, car upside-down on a rotisserie.
Boost leaks - a never ending battle of tracking them down and then eliminating them. Typically, six or seven others spring up as a result of you fixing one.
Wheel bearings - just like every other VAG product, they're going to fail 2-3 times within a 100k mile interval, and will need replacement.
Electrics - Just like every other VAG, you're going to have a bad time.
Handling - sucks.
If you can put up with all of that, they're good looking cars that high school girls will still fawn all over you for and the PBR-drinking dudebros with their Monster hats will have mad respect for you if you can keep it running. Plan to have a CEL no matter what though.

I really don't understand Audi's desire to re-invent hose clamps and cable housing clips. Seriously. There is nothing wrong with normal "clips". Press tab, pull out. Please don't try to re-invent it 20 different times on the same vehicle.
They are nice cars and I do own a VW myself, but I still believe they are 'engineered' by interns.

Definitely the latter. It was designed by business men ;) all they want is more money and more cargo space haha
