Short Rant (VW/AUDI scene driving me nuts)

So my 2004 S4 avant just got totaled (don't worry everyone is fine, slow speed impact with a snow bank a few weeks back).

So as a result i've been selling off my B6/B7 parts hoard. For me I usually love selling car parts once I'm done with a car. It's like a little circle of life for my car ownership experience; one project ends and funds stuff on the next one to begin.

When I sell parts in the BMW scene I always have great interactions; excited and knowledgeable buyers, quick transactions and smiles all around.

In contrast whenever I sell VW/Audi parts it's always a shit show; tire kicking pissy buyers, who always complain about price, thread-jack classifieds posts, always want more pictures, always takes forever for stuff to sell, and never any smiles.:hitler:

Don't get me wrong, I have and will always love VAG cars. I grew up on air cooled VWs, am a Vanagon fanatic, owned multiple audis and VWs over the years, and will likely have another one in a few weeks. But these muther fuckers will be the death of me

You must be listing parts on the vortex. It's called that for a reason

I get parts from Germany, and I use to get mK2, mk3, b5/b4 and dealing with those people on VW Vortex is a shit show. People kick tires for days, bitch when they get them, and when they sell them it's always never as described.

When I try to help the local guys out and sell VW stuff cheap they jew me down and take weeks to hook up. It's infuriating.

I know your pain. I sold a modded VR6 Jetta before my first deployment. I think selling a kidney would have been a more pleasant experience.

Not just vwvortex; audizine is equally as bad. Motorgeek isn't any picnic either.

Not that one in particular, but it's still early.

Buying my S6 was an incredibly smooth transaction. So I'm glad I avoided the VAG headache there. Haven't had to buy anything more for it yet though.

To be honest buying there is fine: it's really selling that is a misery

Funny, I've built many Volkswagens and this is my second bmw and every item I've bought has come differently than described. I've been ripped off, lied to, and straight up ignored once the problems have been found.

By no stretch am I saying that BMW scene (or r3v for that matter) is some holy land. Or that my experience is the only one. But there is a marked difference to me.

This bums me out. I grew up with VW's,grew into Audi's when my income allowed before I picked up my e30 and become enlightened, and I'll definitely own more VAG cars eventually. I never had any problems back in the day on the Vortex/Fourtitude but I guess I was lucky. All of my transactions on r3v have been pretty smooth as well, this is a really great resource for the BMW community!
