Every time I've been to a BMW meet on the Berlin Turnpike, it's been here:

At the Lowe's, in the back parking lot. It work well because the space is huge, and it's pretty far out of sight of the cops that start patrolling up and down the Pike on the weekend. The meets usually started around 6-6:30 p.m., and went until the last guy left.

If this sounds good, and I suppose it's as good a plan as any, I'm game. I haven't been up to much this summer and it would be good to meet and hang for a few with fellow Bimmer enthusiasts, so I'll plan on being at Lowe's around 6:30 p.m. If nobody shows, the fiancee and I will grab some food and take off. No biggie.

One note - For anybody that might be coming that isn't familiar with the Pike, the best advice I can give you is not to race - under any circumstances - anybody no matter how badly you want to, or they taunt you, etc because the cops are out in force, well hidden at times, and are brutally unforgiving. Too many of my friends have learned the hard way that it's just not worth it to screw around until you are away from the busiest parts of the Pike, and even then it's best not to indulge yourself on the Pike at all.

Perhaps I'll see some of you tomorrow at 6:30 - If not, have a great weekend, all.
People started talking about meeting up, but nobody seemed to be able to pick a time and place, so I did.

I doubt if anyone will show given this late notice, but I will be at Lowe's for 6:30 p.m. and if people show, cool. If not, there's more than enough to keep me entertained at that venue until I decide to return home. :D

I've only been to "The Pike" once and there's too much BS around. So many guys with rice rockets and STI's try racing and they drive wrecklessly. The plus side is the Pike is pretty central in the state. Just be smart and you'll be fine.

No longer stock ride height, rolling as low as a daily driver in New England should without worrying about breaking an oil pan.

That is exactly why there is such a considerable police presence once you get to the heart of the Turnpike, where things are more thickly settled. The cops there will pull you over for just about anything out of line - revving your engine, leaving a light too quickly, displays of speed, etc. It is pretty well known among its frequenters as the last place anyone sane would race, however from what I understand a good amount of street races are setup on the Pike, and carried out elsewhere. My E30 is loud enough so that the last thing I'd do is intentionally attract more attention to it. :D

Plus, every other establishment has it parking lot filled with varying car groups. STis and Subarus in one lot, Evos in another, Corvettes and other domestics, etc - My favorites are the ones with the old school American muscle cars. A lot of those guys have spent tons restoring their cars to showroom condition and they look and sound amazing.

I doubt anyone's going to show up tonight regardless, but I said I'd be there, so I'm going. Plus is gives me a reason to get off my duff and clean my car, which it sorely needs after this week's rain.

Alright so you have been there already...I didn't know if you had or hadn't been to a Pike meet so I was giving you a bit of a warning! Yeah, I hear you on the rain...schwarz is a PITA to keep clean. And to heck with this weather, today is the only nice day in a while and I'm at work.

Does your car have colorful out of state plates?

I think I saw you rollin up the Berlin Turnpike.

          Good looking car if so.

Stinks. You didn't miss anything though - One E36 showed, and that was it. I rolled in with a few friends, and we hung out for a while before heading out to grab some food. Hopefully next time there can be a bit more of a heads-up on this kind of meet.

My car is registered to the family home in SC:

The UUC plate surround is long gone, replaced by a BMW Hilton Head frame. Was that the car you saw? If so, thanks for the compliment. :)
