Its prob been a good 3 to 4 years since Ive had a car with a current inspection sticker. I got nervous because I hear that if you dont get it inspected now they suspend the reg. Is this true?

no, i got pulled over the other day with a march 09 sticker, gave me a 35 dollar ticket still had my reg and license in good standing, although i do think it goes on your insurance1991 318is --- currently not road worthy
