anybody know rules on transferring green mass plates between relatives? Possible?

So my 84 year old grandmother recently hung up her keys and I made sure to snatch her green plate and hide it in a fortress deep underground. It's pretty beat but not terrible, still has some reflectiveness and green showing.

Does anybody have experience transferring these within families? I'm looking to swap insurance from my winter car to my convertible this week for obvious reasons, and if I could a green plate at the same time I would be a happy boy.

    Thanks fellas

According to http://www.mass.gov/rmv/regs/reg2.htm the registered owner has to stay the same.

An individual, corporation or company may transfer an existing registration from one vehicle to another if the following conditions apply:

    •The registration is active.
•The owners on the registration will not change.
•Both vehicles conform to the same plate standards.

My cousin tried transferring a green plate two years ago, I think it was from his father - it didn't work out for some reason, I will call him for some more info.

Not legal plain and simple, wish I still had one. To top it off the plate has to remain current too so you can bring one it from say 7 years ago and toss it on your car.

      Plain and simple Mass sucks.
