    Thanks Fred!

You should come up. There's plenty of ax murdering to be had in Maine.

Well yeah, there's no one to hear... THE SCREAMS!

I gotta futz around with my car this weekend in preparation for a day at NHMS on Monday, so I won't be able to make it.

But here's hoping you drive fast and have fun!

Yes, the screams go unheard. And there's plenty of places to stash the bodies!

Hey rally fans, if any of you are in the Sunday River Maine area we need a front HD strut bad. Blew it on the second to last stage of NEFR today. If you have one we can buy or borrow, let us know.

          Cheers

Good luck with the rally. My friends at Nameless Performance are there with the GT-86 and I wish I could be there.

They are a bunch of really nice guys and one of the owners, Jason, has an E28 535is turbo (engine is out of the car at the moment), a Bavaria, and possibly another vintage BMW.

After three attempts, we finished our first New England Forest Rally!

Despite a suicidal coil, basketball-sized rocks, a cracked motor mount and a blown Bilstein, we finished intact.

Stories and pics are coming soon at slapdashracing.com!

Yes it is annual, usually in July, usually at Sunday River Ski Resort in Maine, then jumps to Errol, NH, on Day 2, then finishes at Sunday River again. It is a great event and known as a 'car-breaker'. Although bits of our car were broken, we pushed through to cross the line under our own power.

Buuut, there is another rally in late September that we're trying to get to but we need to raise $1,900 to do it. Although we have many great sponsors, Cage This, UUC and Banchwerks, we are accepting additional sponsorships and donations to make the line-up.

The rally is called Black River Stages and it is located waaay upstate NY, in Croghan and Harisville. This rally includes night stages and the area and its residents are very supportive of the event.

So if you want to learn more, check out my website and don't hesitate to ask questions. More stories will be posted in the next couple of days.

                          Cheers

Kris, I have to thank you for leaving your car at Matt's house so I could decide to put my silly Subaru rally cars aside and do this 2wd rally thing! I'm thinking the s52 will be tons of fun on gravel!
Did Bill make your skid plate? I gotta protect this dainty oil pan from the Maine baby-heads!

Glad I could help! It's really just a clever ploy to get more E30 rally cars on the stages, so if something breaks on mine I can steal your parts!

Yes, the skid plate is another Doyle Special. The snarling lip in the front is the result of a 40-mph impact with a tree (wasn't on my car at the time). But they backed out of it and finished the rally.

There's also a mini roll cage protecting that diva oil pan and the trans mount is flipped and reinforced, which gives a little more clearance. He also relocated the oil cooler for me so it sits in front of the radiator, just behind the kidneys.

One year, despite the Fort Knox protection, a tiny rock found its way between the skid plate and the oil pan, I hit a bump and that was that. To solve that issue, I shoved some Wacky Noodles betwixt the pan and the skid plate. Keeps the rocks out and provides a little helmet-like shock protection. Problem solved.

And thanks for putting your Subies aside. RWD is killer fun and it makes 80 mph feel like 180. And in a see of blue Subarus, an old BMW rally car really draws a crowd.
