    Waltham/Boston area mechanic

Anyone know of a good mechanic in the Waltham or Boston area? Looking to get the timing belt and everything done. Just moved here and don't have a garage to do it myself. I got a quote and it was $1300 for water pump and timing belt.

Im in Providence, Here at Banchwerks. We do alot of E30 work, and Im sure we'll charge way less then $1300. I know the M20 like the back of my hand.

Theres a thread on the New England BImmerforums section that i believe is called "Where to take your BMW for service in Boston"

Thank you. I might have found one up here. I'll find out for sure Monday. I'll message you if it falls though. Nobody want to work on the classics anymore.

That is an insane price for that work. Would you mind letting us know who the ripoff artist is?

Not to talk bad about the company. They seem to do good work and Rob the owner there is very knowledgable. But it's Boston Motor Werks in Belmont.

I bet it books for 6 hours, but can be done in a couple hours for an experienced mechanic. It's a great time to replace the cam seals, but those only add maybe 15 minutes to the job, and cost like $5.

I've also heard that Boston Motor Werks is a pretty good shop.

I've heard that they are a good shop too. I'm wondering if they had some other work included that you aren't telling us about.
