winter driving events in the NY/New England area?

Anyone know of any winter driving events anywhere in the northeast?

I know last winter audi club held a few events on the frozen lakes in upstate NY, but couldn't find anything for this winter.

If anyone knows of anything let me know, thanks.

    Finger lakes ice racers: http://www.fingerlakesiceracers.org/about_flir.html

I raced with them last winter, and it was awesome. Never made it or on the lake due to warm weather, but we did run at Black Rock in the snow which was awesome.

    CNY ice racers: http://www.cnyira.com

Flr-scca puts on road rallies throughout the winter: http://www.flr-scca.com/rally/2014/index.html

The next road rally is coming up on the 22nd. They are a lot of fun.

Looks like amec is racing tomorrow in the Adirondacks, if you're on that side of the state.

Andy.B That looks great! Thanks for all the info. Caroga lake is definitely the closest to me. Do you know if amec is purely wheel to wheel racing or do they do time trial / solo as well?

        thanks again

Glad to help! My e30 is under the knife this winter, so I can't take that to any ice racing events, I can't run my Miata without a roll bar, and my GF won't let me wheel to wheel race her civic, so my studded snow tires are just collecting dust this winter. I can't wait to get back out there next year. I have been thinking of selling the Miata to buy more of a beater to race in chumpcar / rally - x / ice racing / etc. Maybe another e30?

I've never been to an AMEC event, so I can't say for sure if they run time trials. I know that FLIR and CNY Ice Racers both runtime trials, and have done joint events with AMEC in the past, so I would assume AMEC does as well.

Nice, just pre-registered for an event in NH through the Boston chapter. Hopefully I'll be able to make it up.

Ah, well it's not a bad problem to have. I've never been to an ice event myself but can only imagine the level of fun had. The E30 seems like a great platform for it especially if you can find a cheap one, and I'm partial to RWD especially on the slippery stuff. E28 wouldn't be a bad choice either. However, for the money I would look at Volvo 240's if I had the money for another car, that would be my choice of winter beater. Good luck getting the e30 back on the road.
