Do you need a title in MA?

I am lost trying to get a straight answer regarding registering a vehicle in MA or CT without a title. I know some states have a cut off age (for example 25 years) - is this the same with MA or CT?

Does anyone have experience purchasing and registering an E30 without a title? If so, is it possible to obtain a new title once purchased/registered?

Ct has a cut off age as described at the DMV website. I believer its 25-30 years depending on whether or not the car was previously registered in CT. I received a title for my 1987 in 2013, though this law may have been made before then

i bought an e30 from NH, back in 2011, I dont think it had a NH title, but I needed to get one for Mass

you need a MA title to register, its $75 for both I think, need to get an insurance stamp too, and you have to pay sales tax if you bought the car out of state and are a resident of MA. They take 6.25% of either the price you paid or the KBB value, whichever one is higher

I had to pay $300 in tax for a $1200 car before so don't be too surprised. Theres also fees if you title it after 7? days of purchase, they're not too much but its extra on top

I bought my last e30, a 1990, from NH last year without a title. I registered the car in MA with the bill of sale and the previous owner's NH registration. MA will then issue a title. It was pretty easy and I had no problems at all.
