Good Photo places?

I'm stationed here in Groton, CT and was curious as to where I can get some good photos.

I'm looking for something not too terribly far, roughly 30-60 minutes from Groton or 60-90 minutes on the weekend.

Criteria...

Urban places for car shots and overall some good photography.

Parks and back roads where I can get some more car shots and scenic photos.

hmm mystic CT has some nice historic ships, new haven is a gangster city with some grafitti

I have been stranded in New Haven before when I missed the last train out for New London. Not some place I want to be in again after dark, unarmed.
