    WTB M42 - Oregon

Hey guys, I'm looking for an M42 from an e30, hopefully in Oregon. I can haul it back if its near oregon, but the closer the better!

I just need the motor. Thanks tho Curt! And 2k with body damage seems like a really bad deal, a clean late model is worth maybe 2k. Maybe. These are 17+yo cars!

That sell for 3-5k ;) Unless they are crappy, stock, and neglected. Then 2k and below.

C'mon ro, these cars are worth more then you think these days. they are now "classics".

No, they are not classics. And no, they aren't worth that much. A late model *might* be with 3k in perfect condition. 5 years ago I almost bought a MINT 163k full record 91 318iS, for $3500. 5 years ago.

Wow, you shoulda snagged it if it was mint. They still go for that. I have bought and sold 3 late models in the last 2 years and none were sold for less than 4500. All sold within 2 weeks.

Show me a mint late model, 325 or 318 for 2k and I will buy you a beer in Leavenworth.

I was about 30min late. So I found my mint e36. Well, it was mint when I picked it up.

I congratulate you on those sales. Unless they were mint, coupe, and under 150k, I'd be shocked.

I'm sorry but I'm not shopping for decent e30's, I found a decent shell for $500 that needs minor motor work / motor replacement (both are roughly the same price). If I were actually shopping for an e30 that shouldn't be a problem. But I encourage your enthusiasm for e30's and their value :) Edit: Found you two cars: http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/cto/1227191801.html http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/cto/1217082981.html

Jesus. Nice job on the sale in that case. IMO, an e36 like mine (stock) is worth maybe 3k in clean condition, 4-5k in MINT condition. With my mods (Over 30k invested) I wouldn't ask over 12k, its just not worth it. How long have you been selling your car? I like your car a ton, but the market proved its not worth 20k... Its all good tho, if you can fetch 2k for a body damaged late model, more power to you! I just wouldn't pay, ever. That's just me. Good luck with the sale tho!!

I havent really tried to sell it. More so posted on a forum where the people with the ability to buy it are few and far between. I have had trade offers for cars worth 16-25k. If I was serious, I would list it on ebay or the like. Which I still might do.

I am not entertaining the idea of selling out of need, more so boredom and wanted to build something again.

E30s stopped depreciating a few years back more or less.

I understand where you're coming from on the sale of your car and the wanting someting different. Once its really complete, the fun is gone! So I question why you haven't put a snail on it ;-)

I'm not so sure if they stopped depreciating, or if more so the owners decided to think they did. Because KBB, Craigslist, and Autotrader disagree.. Its all good tho, I think its pretty cool that you could get as much as you did for those cars, good sales job!!

Now back on subject: Where is my M42 guys?!

QFT, its how it is. E36s are the Honda Civic of the German car world.
