MY car is stuck in 2nd gear

Today i was driving pretty hard and i got into second and i tried to shift into third and it wouldnt work. I tried to shift down in to 1st and it didnt work. Whats wrong with my car? I can still move the shifter like im in nuetral but im stuck in 2nd!

You need to get under teh car and look, see if anything is broke?? I fixed my problem by swaping trans lol

Does your shifter feel really floppy like it's not connected to anything?

I was driving through seattle traffic, threw 'er into second to go around someone and bam the shift linkage fell apart. Needless to say I was stuck in second and glad I was near a place to stop.

Most likely would be cheapest to buy a new trans, you can find em really cheap sometimes, try Joe Funk.

so my neighbor and i jacked my car up this morning and it was hard to see because the driveline was in the way but we're pretty sure the shifter rod has come out of the trans. I'm assuming this happened from it rubbing on the driveline. Because i had been noticing that. Call me an idiot, but thats what i thought i saw
