    Traffic trial question

So today i was in court for a traffic ticket and the cop that issued me the ticket didnt' show up and gave no reason, but the judge didn't dismiss the case instead he put it off for another day. I've always heard if the cop doesn't show it rules in my favor, but apparnetly today it's not the way it went. Am I missing something here, or does the judge have the power to do that?

Please keep your negative comments to yourself thank you

Its up to the judge, Dad got a speeding ticket in WA like 10 years ago and the cop didnt show. pushed it to the next day. Cop didnt show. So he threw it out.

Some law about if your acusor of a ticket or violation is not present its thrown out.

    probably similar in oregon???

    Please leave feedback below, thanks

he put it off to another day to give the fuzz a chance to show up.

they don't have time to show up for every court date on every ticket they write and not everyone shows up in court for a traffic ticket

if johnny does not show up for the next date it will likely get tossed or reduced

        EDIT: Portland cops are dicks

Well, I can vouch that in WA State, the municipal court will allow the police officer to send in his evidence against you (case report, citation, etc etc...) and doesn't have to show.

Last reason I had a speeding ticket thrown out was that I filed discovery which allowed me to look at my accusers evidence and found that the radar gun certificate of calibration was one year expired. Because the officer wasn't there to give evidence that it was, it was thrown out.

          Good luck.
