Anyone know where I can source an IX transmission?

Long story short, I believe my Trans is on it's way out. At random times shifting into third or second from rolling in neutral my car will go CRUNCH. Other than that it drives like a dream. I plan on driving it till it goes boom but I want to have a replacement trans ready to go in for when this finally happens..

Anyone got any ideas of where I can find a complete, good, used ix trans? Any leads are greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

sounds like it needs syncro's

keep your eyes peeled on the local clubs digests and craigslist as someone just pulled a complete eng/trans/t-case out of a 91 IX at the lynnwood pull-a-part a couple weeks ago .they beat me up there to pull the t-case off it ,i got the front axles and steering gear off it though. ive seen the skirts off that car for sale on craigslist already so you might get lucky and see the trans come up for sale.

its a lot of work but a standard good 325i trans front half can be grafted onto your tailshaft housing as they are the same except for the rear case piece that the T-case attaches too ,so if all else fails find a good 325i trans and have a trans shop rebuild it using the needed piece off yours

Yeahhhh. Lol. Anywho, I've just been babying it and learning to drive with it. It's really not that bad, with some care the grinding is completely 100% avoidable. Changing fluids to Redline shortly.

On a sidenote, I ordered up some Yokohama avid V4S's (205/55/R15). Hella excited to throw these on the car. Next up are koni adjustables.
