Anyone local and close work at a dealer?

So, I picked up a 4 door beater, 1988 325i for $1,000. To transfer the title, they want $450... this is ridiculous. They claim fair market value is $4,500-$6,500 on our little e30's now. This is a false tax, money grabbing ploy by our local shit-hole Government. So, my only way out of paying half of what I paid for the car to register it is to go to a dealer and have them give me an "Estimate" of worth and a price to "repair" said vehicle.

Can anyone hook it on up? Thanks in advance!

Lol. That is some bullshit. Can you sell it to someone else as a gift? Then transfer it as a gift back to you?

no, the gift can only be done once tax free. if it is gifted a second time taxes have to be paid for the value of the car.

Chris, my dad's friend is (at least I think he still is) a used car dealer. I'll talk to him and see if he can give you an appraisal.

Yeah, they gave me some bullshit form I can have the P.O. fill out. The trouble is he lives in Lynnwood, I live near Tacoma. 3 hour round trip is just obnoxious. And I'll have to track him down again. No phone number or E-mail address was saved.

yep.. it was like 120 bucks or something for my E39.

why not just register it in oregon? it's not like they ask for ID when you do it, and im sure you know someone down here with an address you can use.

I got my ix for 1500 and had it registered for a little less than 200.00. That includes the price for the emissions test I had to take.

Wish I could help! Sounds like a big 'ol fashion cluster fuck.

They did the same thing to me. Well tried, it doesn't matter what dealership you go to. I went to Nissian to have them give me an estimate. Bring the estimate with you and go in there and tell them.
