Great call on this one. I had to replace one of my tie rod assembly as it was bent. Another local shop want $150 for the part (WOW) and another $200 for the install plus $115 for alignment.

Charlie got it all done for $150 with alignment.

If you were to take a piece of sheet-metal, or, if you are lucky, a piece of stainless steal sheet you had laying around that was like 24" by something like 8" and you were to slice a cut about 2" up on both of the 8" sides that was a cut parallel to the 24" sides with a length of like 1" and a thickness of like 1/4" you would more or less have a toe plate... now you just need another one for the other side. If you really felt like going all out you could even cut a handle in the top.

Then you would just stand the plates up against the side face of each tire, with the cuts on each side of the tire and use them to measure the distance that the plates are apart in the front of each tire, and the distance that the plates are apart in the rear of your tire.

I don't remember the distance, so i am just going to use a number like 60" so the in front it would read 60" and the back would real 60" and then you would have no "toe-in". For a street car you want just a little "toe-in" so make it so that the front reads like 59 &15/16" and the back reads whatever it will. Pretty common amongst people who race I would think, so they should sell them online someplace, shouldn't cost an arm and a leg either.

I used a laser level. I lined it up with the tires, marked the beam on the floor behind the tires and 10' in front, did some trig to find the angle.

Adjust, repeat.
