    Vancouver, BC to Florence, OR

July 8th I have to make this drive for a weekend Batchelor Party in Florence. We are staying at some place called Osprey shores.

I've driven the I-5 all of the way into Anaheim and I'm looking for something different.
Would the scenery on Highway 101 be worth the detour? It is obviously a slower drive.

We won't be stopping much but is there anything that is a MUST see?

    Thanks in advance.

Jump over at the Port Townsend Ferry and cruise the peninsula. Take Highway 112 once you pass Forks. 100% worth it.

This time of year, 101 will slow you down a ton. It's a great drive, but it'll run you late if you get stuck behind an RV for a while.
Maybe do it for the return trip, when time isn't such a major deal?

101 in most of Washington is just a shit load of clear cut forest.
In Oregon, you hug the coast quite a bit, and the view is amazing.

101 IS A BLAST. Possible one of the best drives in oregon right outside florence. The issue is traffic.

                    You can start from Astoria/Warrenton.
It get's really good as soon as you get south of Seaside.
A word of warning, that 101 is a bit choppy from Wheeler, to Garibaldi if you have a lowered car, or really stiff suspension. So I usually go a bit slower in that small stretch.
From there on out, it's smooth sailing.

Of course, you will have to cross the coolest bridge in the damn world the wrong way. Cross 3 times is recommended, so go across, U-turn, cross again and 1 more U-turn and all is well
