    Hey, thanks for all the feedback. I'm almost done with the swap. yes I spent around the $1500 in the end between plus some extra parts, poly bushings etc on top of that but I really like how it came out and if i ever decide to sell it the parts will probably be worth more than i invested.

    well if you can get these items for $750 through your friend, share your friend with the world because e30 m3 setups normally run $1500+, and certain pieces are NLA.

    that's why i was saying that if you're doing 5-lug just for the wheels, you can spend waaay less by getting the e36 setup, AND the wheels would fit properly.

    Appreciate all the feedback on how to do the 5-lug, but if 15mm spacers is going to be my biggest problem then I'm not too worried as i have to do that as it is today. The parts are there for the taking and it's the direction i've chosen to go. I've read over the DYI's numerus times for the m3 e36/318ti etc but at the present i'm just not interested in piecing everything together. Any way I look at it I'm going to be droping a lot of money on it.

    And now for the only real big negative I can think of.. spacers that thick aren't cheap!!!

    I went the e36 front / 2.8i Z3 route and it didn't have to modify anything. Front struts from an e36 m3 bolt up, spend some moneys and you can get them new! The e36 m3 knuckle bolts up the the strut (well it did come from the same car, I would hope so!) You would need e36 M3 lower control arms... and it you wanted to be really lazy you could just pick up a set of Tree House Racing Eyeball Arms instead of pressing in e30 M3 offset bushings to your existing front lollipops.

    For the back I would just get a set of new hubs for a 1998 2.8i Z3 and a set of new e30 wheel bearings. Only other thing needed after that is brake calipers (the difference between z3 and regular e36 is that the z3 is upside down?) and caliper mounting brackets and bolts (just get this used!) new rotors and pads and I think that does it for the back...

    With that setup everything should be pretty well centered up front and you will definitely have some great stopping power. And for ABS to work all you need is a set of front ABS sensors from a regular e36... wire them up as on here (somewhere, just check out that sub-forum we have!)

    Yes but there are positives to going this way as well. I can get the whole thing in one shot for $750 through a friend for e30 M3 and I like the fact that i can bolt it right on as I'm not the most well versed when it comes to modifying struts etc. and the ABS should work without any issues.

    No reason to spend the money on an E30 M3 swap if you're just going to put DS2's on the car. You would end up having to run 15-20mm spacers just to make them look good.

    Yeah that picture is pretty sweet you guys took. The more I look at them the more I am considering moving the DSII's from my M3 over to the e30 and getting something else for the M3.

    I will have an e30 M3 swap when all is said and done.

    I have a bent front drivers side strunt and I got too friendly with a curb on my pasenger back so I have a bad vibration and squeal.

    So 5 lug it is!

    LOL That's one of the reason's that I want to go 5lug also :giggle:

    E30 M3 or E36 stuff?

    Trouble is that I already have massive's bbk...going five lug would be purely cosmetic at that point.
