Here is a local set for sale:

Also realize that snow tires, once they get below 50% tread do not work nearly as well. So don't pay as much for a low tread set.

An E30 with decent snow tires on all 4 corners can actually do OK in the snow.

Thanks Lance, that looks like a pretty good deal. However, I don't have that much monies available just yet. This was sort of a spur of the moment thought. I'll keep my eyes open.

Simply stud your existing tires with woodscrews and a drill

I ran this set of tires on my car two years ago (318i, open diff) with some extra weight in the trunk. It was a super gnarly winter and my car did awesome.

And pictures will be up soon.

E30 specific steelies. no curbage. Two pairs of tires, both studded. One set bridgestone, the other is uniroyal.

Me too, they looked good on my old euro car. They are a bit dirty but they clean up really well

I would feel guilty having studded tires and driving out of the snow all winter... anyone else do this? You guys know our moderate climate here.

I would stud her car so wheel swaps are easier.

Imma hit that guy with the $200 set up shortly.

I'm going to have a set for sale mounted on chipping chrome basketweaves plus a set of chains shortly. One of the tires has no air in it so I'm going to have the local shop check it out to make sure everything's ok before I sell for sure this saturday. Their ugly but they work great. They've only been used 2 winters are Cooper's, I believe snow master's.

Well, they work, assuming you have adequate clearance. Really annoying to drive on, so it would be under the catagory of "better than being stuck". And unless it is a destination you really wanted to go to, a good excuse to call in and say "stuck at home in the snow".

I never had any issues. I used them a few times to get up to timberline since the road can get iced over pretty good. I also used them in some dicey situations crossing snoqualmie in december. With the 195/60 snows they worked great with Ireland Stage 3's, and also the ground controls.

If you still have those steels w/ studs I'd be interested let me know.

Though if they're not matching size I might have to look elsewhere. I figure that going between Ellensburg and Snoqualmie all winter should at least justify some studs and making this little iX unstoppable.
