Ok, here the deal. I'm trying to find a serviceable M30 motor. They were in all the 5, 6 and 7's until 90-91 I think. Mileage is less a concern than in running condition. Would prefer an engine already out but will consider others. I'm trying to keep an otherwise nice E12 from the scrap heap. I might even consider putting a M20 into it as they were in the E28's and should swap over. Any other ideas( an M50 maybe) would be entertained. Thanks __________________

I saw the Portland Craiglisting. I emailed the guy for some more info. Are you close enough to take a look at it? Thanks for the input.Greg Mierz

Sucessful find
Larry and I went out to Kirkland to look at and buy a 3.2L 81 633 motor with rebuilt head and solid bottom, new head/intake/exhaust gaskets, includes new pan gasket to be installed for $600. Same injection/ignition as the 528 E12. Sweet E12, very nice red leather interior/dash/glass solid body and redone suspension. Nice car, the leather was in very nice shape, someone took care of it. The swap should work out sweet. More power 25Hp and 39more ft/lbs torque. The motor is tight and need nothing but a pan gasket to drop in. The Bimmerforum request come through with a good karmic match. Nick gets it out of the garage, Larry has a sweet new motor for an otherwise very nice E12.Cruising here he comes:giggle: I get to do the work... He should enjoy the added power plus what he losing with the bad compression, it is a real increase in the real world rev range for an auto. Plus Nick the seller of the motor has a rebuilt auto of exact type too for sale, nice spare for later. Turning out to be nice deal all around.:DGreg Mierz
