    introducing myself

    Hey,
Bought my 87 IS about a year ago, rebuilt the front end because it was shot (went with Eibach for springs and sway bars and billie sports, front and rear), did the timing belt, and did the clutch after the throwout bearing imploded one day, bought a set of ellipsoids.

Anyhow, I've gotten lots of info from R3V and figured it was time to introduce myself. Long ago I owned a Datsun 510 and dreamed of an E30. Now I own one. Maybe someday it'll look nice, but until then it's a kick to drive. :)

Attached is a pic of my car. It looks way worse in person. The clear is peeling in such a way that it looks like frost on top of the car, not a desirable thing. I've been planning on a different color all along, but I saw some fine examples of Bronzit on this site that have (almost) inspired me to repaint the same. Time will tell.

As an offense to the diving-board krew, I'm probably going to tuck them.
I do have the stock early-IS front air dam, but it's painted Krylon tan, and looks like crap, so it's off until I can do something about it.

Mostly I've been picking up various parts and trying to find time to put them on. Tracking down the source of water in the rear passenger footwell is occupying my limited time right now.

I bought a MarkD chip from TS323 and need to find time to install it and the 19# injectors that go with it.

In the future I'd like to do a swap. Everyday I eye the m50tub28 that Kevin Doyle has for sale in hopes that he's sold it, so I won't have to agonize over making an offer on it.

Oh, and I tend to type too much.

    Curt

Already done. Forgot to list that. Very nice skid-plate, too! My only gripe was that it came with inch fasteners. All my tools are metric. :P

I've been eying your cross-brace, but I think that's going to have to wait for a while.

I think my wife would kick my ass if I tried to go to a car event instead of my in-law's party. Gotta put in the time with the family.

Well, I do have the M3 CABs, and I still don't have the money. Near-first on the list at this point is a new windshield. The original one is pretty pitted. Although since it's only a real problem at night, in the rain, I could probably wait a while before getting it replaced. Don't get either one around here this time of year. ;)

Crap, just looked at your normal prices, and you're offering a smoking deal! So let me restate: thanks for the great offer, but I just can't afford it right now. Hopefully in the future, though.

Does the control-arm interfere with the x-brace if the M3 CAB's are installed?

Not on the new ones. Keep up the hard work on your car and we will see you at the picnic.

                              Curt,

Welcome and GL with all the projects. Seems like you are doing right about them all so far. And is it Curt or Curtis originally?
