    QUICK! convertible people!

    i would like to know the answer to this as soon as possible as I am going to see the car this afternoon.

    what is this gap that i'm seeing??? is it missing a part?...the car can't just come with a gap/hole right here...

    Im pretty sure the bristles are supposed to cover it. Haven't been in my vert in a while though so cant remember for sure.

        from google, less gap in trim and fabric appears to just be tucked over it more tightly

          Probably just an old top. Appears to have shrunk a little bit.

            yea I have had two verts like that... neither one leaked water there.

              Our hardtop gaps right there a little because the soft top mechanisim is broken, so the motor cannot lock the soft top into place in the stored position meaning we have to rely on the weight of the hardtop to keep it down. Unfortunatly, I don't think me telling you that helps with why you have a gap with your soft top, but I do kind of agree with the guys saying it might be a shrunken top.

                Hard tops have a little rubber flap that should cover that gap..

                    That gap is pretty normal on very old canvas tops, they naturally shrink over time. Mine was the original from '92 and I could fit my whole hand through there.

                    The only solution is a replacement, but they can be had relatively cheap by reputable German aftermarket dealers. Usually much better quality than the eBay stuff.

                        i bought it! haha but i was actually kinda heated when you bought that car. I know exactly which one your talking about. I wanted it really bad but my car didn't sell in time so i had no funds :twisted: in the end i got to keep my e28 though!! :-D
