Moving to Portland next year. LS1 swapped e30 = emissions problerm?

Not currently swapped, but considering doing this during this summer. Currently running '91 318is with slightly modified m42. I've read up on some emissions policies in Oregon, but would an LS1 swapped e30 have absolutely no chance for passing this?

    Pic related.

Off the top of my head, the only places in Oregon that have emissions testing are Portland and Medford/Ashland. I would see where the portland boundary is, and register your car outside of said boundary. There are lots of suburbs outside of multnomah county.

Awesome, thank you. Yeah my wife and I will be going to school there.. honestly probably won't be driving TOO much. Probably taking the mass transit/bike option, but want to get the swap done before I leave Florida.

Even if you live in the DEQ testing area you shouldn't have any problems. I have a fucking TINY aftermarket magnaflow cat on my m30 swap and it passed with flying colors. They don't even open your hood, just sniff your tailpipe at idle for about 30 seconds.

Just register that sucker anywhere but Portland. No emissions FTW!

Deq is easy to pass. As long as its running properly and warm you shouldn't have a problem.

Also, less talk more LS1 swapping.

I had the exact same experience. M30 swapped, complete after market exhaust. No questions no hood pop. Just sniff and go.

What school are you guys going to? Or what will you be studying?

Oregon is just a sniff test. If you're running cats, you'll be fine. No need to register outside the area.

I will be going to graduate school at Western States University for Chiropractic Medicine. My wife will be going to National College of Natural Medicine for her Naturopathic Medicine doctorate.

Thanks for all the input guys. Hopefully this doesn't change within the next couple of years or so.

Right now the LS1 swap is tentative. I am hoping to get started sometime near the end of April, when I actually have some free time. As of right now, I'm still looking for a complete setup.. LS1 w/ T56 under 70k in the south Florida area to prevent having to pay shipping.

I will post lots of pics when the build begins.
