Very inexperienced...need help removing and installing a diff.

I've had nothing but trouble trying to get my diff out for days now and It's really starting to piss me off. At this point one of the locknuts holding the driveshaft to the flange refuses to budge. I've blasted that thing with more wd-40 and PB blaster then you can imagine yet still no avail. Aside from this problem I could just use some overall general assistance with the task since this is the first major work I've done to a car ever. Anyone who wants to come help me will be provided pizza and beer or whatever will get someone out to my house to help me with this pain in my ass. Getting rides everywhere is getting very old at this point.

Any help is very much appreciated!!

Put a large screwdriver in one of the forward joints of the driveshaft. That will keep it from spinning when you remove the rear nuts.

It sounds like you need more leverage.

Gotta put some brute strength into it. Leverage is the only way to get that if you cant get it. Cheater bars and the ghetto double rigged combo wrench method.

If you were closer to pdx I'd come lend you a hand.

I'm not in Seattle precisely. I'm over in Woodinville.. So like 30 min from Seattle no big deal :) I can't even begin to tell you how much I need this car back on the road.

Yes and no. I struggled the fuck out of mine. Then again, I had been lifting 18x18 ceramic tiles in quantities of 10 upwards of 250 times for 7 hours prior.

It'll break your knuckles open, but you should be able to dominate them with a breaker bar + e-brake + in gear. Don't be shy of 'em.

i feel ya, we had the car on jacks, under it. Used a TQ wrench at max setting for a breaker. Took us a hour to get it out and 15mins in with the new one lol. those top 4 are a pain. Like you said, In gear , ebrake on and breaker bar it comes off easy with bloody knuckles.

I've become accustomed to putting a rag over my hand while I apply force near any surface. Sharp or otherwise. Should hear the animalistic sounds Luke makes when he's doing these.
