Oh btw I have a new BMW master mechanic thats 40 bucks an hour and he says I can either drop the car off or wrench with him. Not sure if that will be cheaper but we'll find out tomorrow when I go over to fix my eta.CBAKE

Well the official plan is this... Compression and leak down test on Saturday. If my car fails, I'm buying Wishno's old Eta motor and doing a eta swap Sunday. lol I will literally try and do it in 1 day. I miss my car sooo much... :'(Comment

Abe, I'd like to help, so here goes...
You say you did a head gasket... did you mean pan gasket or did you really do a head gasket?
After I did the headgasket on my car it ran VERY rough, it would stall, it had no power, and it eventually vapor locked. I had the Coolant Temp Sensor the the Thermo-time switch hooked up backwards. Switched those up and it ran beautifully.
The way these engine management systems work, if any of the inputs (Coolant temp sensor, crank position sensor, air flow meter, throttle position sensor) are inaccurate/missing, the outputs (injectors, spark) will be effed up. There are a couple of exceptions to this rule, though: the oxygen sensor and the barometric sensor. The car will run fine without these, although without an oxygen sensor you'll damage you cat (meow). Also, if something beyond the ECU's control is not right (vacuum leak, sticky ICV, broken rocker, bent valve, etc.), it won't run right properly. Please note that some of this only applies to "normal" Eta's.
Here are a couple more ideas:
-Electrical grounds. Check to see that all are in place and working. It also wouldn't be bad idea to clean them.
-Because of the way these cars vent their crankcases, if there is an oil leak, that leak will also be a vacuum leak. A leaking/missing oil filler cap or an improperly seated dipstick will cause a vac leaks.

Rick's brother in law already check most all of those things. ICV, most all vacuum lines that are accessible, the dip stick, spark plugs and a few other odds and ends. While I did swap out my air box for a MAF adapter and cone filter I still kept all the things to it in working order. As it was my oil pan that broke....I did a oil pan gasket. >.>
The head gasket theory derives from the fact that we let my car at long idea for too long with a possibly faulty coolant system that could of done something some heat damage.Comment

Also, keep in in mind that you may have REALLY bad luck (i.e. broken rocker, camshaft has split in two, timing belt slipped a few teeth, etc.). Try unplugging and plugging in the sensors one by one, see if that helps. Maybe try tapping on some of the sensors?Originally posted by 5Toesbux bux bux. Im all about the bux Mr. AutismComment
