So I had a guy on another forum Im on (r/c rock crawling forum) PM me about an issue he is having. Just looking for your guys' opinions on it. Heres what he sent me:
1989 e30 325i Injection problems (?) started with cold start problems then....... even when hot I would have to crank it along time before it begins sputter and it starts. It has been a couple of months since she ran. When is time hall ass she does very well. It has an automatic tranny and has 180,000 miles on her...........Thanks for any help

wanna sell it? lol Im kidding. Unless you actually do, then Ill figure out how to get it. Alright so sounds like a fuel delivery issue. Lets start off with the easy stuff first. Check fuel pressure at the rail. I cant seem to find the specification on what it should be, but obviously nothing crazy high, or low. Around 16psi would be a good ball park, but I will have a buddy check his service book to verify. Now I have a few questions. Do you know the last time the fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator were replaced? Those are cheap and easy things to check and/or replace. Depending on what you have for fuel pressure, I would replace both. Also, have you ever pulled the injectors and cleaned them? If not, at 180k i recommend it. But do not use that junk you poor in the gas tank, it doesnt work all that well. Actually pull them out, clean them and reinstall with new o-rings. Like I said, they are real simple motors, and vehicles all around. I feel it would be safe to say its one of the things I mentioned
Please give me any insight you may have. I feel Im in the right direction, but a second, third, fourth, tenth opinion never hurts. Thanks guys :)
