Craigslist/Ebay/junkyards... All great places to start. You'll most likely have to pull one from a wrecked car.

I look periodically and come across them on CL but im not ready to take on the project yet so I havent picked one up. CL will be your best bet I think. The E36 M3 are becoming few and far between and finding a wrecked one with a decent engine seems to be even more rare. I almost wish someone sold a turn key package. I would probably buy it considering I just dont have the free time required to source all the odds and ends too

I would buy a complete wrecked car and part it out but I never seem to find any

Its all way over priced but they do sell everything you need.

I have gotten both my engines off craigslist from wrecked cars. You can still start the engines and test them.

                      copart.com

buy an entire car for under 2k, take engine, sell parts, scrap rest. likely make your money back.

Doable but a lot of work - that and I thought you had to have a business license to buy from copart.

I got an s50 that's completely rebuilt and stroked to a 3.5 if your interested. Also have a vortex supercharger and oil cooler set up as well for it. Message me if you want info about it.

Thanks everyone for pointing me in the right direction. How much have people been picking up crashed M3's for?
