Really clean early e28 s2.93 trade?

Hey Guys, I bought this diff in hopes of putting the LSD portion into my e30 diff. Well it's just a tad too short, I'm hoping to trade it for an LSD e30 diff. Any ratio it doesn't matter.

Aren't E30 and E28 diffs the same except for the output flanges?

Well I was told this was out of an early e28. Maybe it's not, my knowledge is limited to e30s. The ring gear side of this LSD where the bearing sits is about 2mm off. Just enough that it won't engage the pinion at all.

If it is out of an E12 it could be different

All the e12 diffs I have seen are sideloaders. The mount on the cover has a slat almost like it slides unto a stud. Thanks for the info man, I'll post some pictures tomorrow.
