    E39 m54 owners help

Ok so my e39 wont start the problem ive traced the problem to no fuel. The pump is not engaging. if I spray starting fluid in the cylinders it will start. I tried jumping the relay pin 30 and 87 and still the pump doesnt engage. I checked the pins they are getting 12v. Is the problem the fuel pump? Please help me figure this out.

If the pump is getting 12v and not turning on then its a bad fuel pump.

you should be able to use an after market pump like you can in e30's, I know you can in e36 and e46's.

Hot wire the pump if it turns on! Then get an ohm meter and a Wiring schematic. GL

Check your fuses. In particular, there is a little bank of about five fuses in the compartment behind the RF strut tower. If one of those is out, it can cause a no start scenario and you'll never, ever figure it out without someone to point you.

The e39 has 3 different locations for fuses, which is so utterly beyond ridiculous, it's just not funny.

wiring harness, pump, or relay. I would go more toward the route that the pump is what is wrong, but if it truly is not receiving 12v at the pump, then it must be the wiring if you're jumping the relay correctly. I just replaced a pump on a e39 M5 a few weeks ago, not a hard job.
