also, you may check out some of the Spec E30 forums and haunts. It's a bit of a drive, but So Cal. they have some Spec E30's come up occasionally. If you are looking to buy a car ready to race (understatement.. because any car is going to need something) expect to spend $12,000 and up.
If you want to try building it yourself, you can save some $$$ but expect it to take twice as long as expected, and full of frustration and missteps.
I have built my own, and it's the very basic amount of work to get it ready for the class, and I am still around $6000 total. To make it competitive, is going to probably be another $5000. This on top of operating cost (gas, tires, trailer, maintenance..etc.)1991 325i MT2 Touring (JDM bro)

I'm not aware of any PRO3 cars for sale, I have heard of a couple people looking to buy a car. They sell pretty fast when they do come up for sale. They change hands for anywhere from $12k to $20k depending on how built it is to the rules, freshness of the engine, spares package, etc.
I agree that finding a SpecE30 or ITS E30 are two ways to jump start the process. You'll want to upgrade a SpecE30 in a couple of areas to be competitive. You'll probably have to detune an ITS E30 to be legal. But either are fairly close.

you may want to see what this guys offering, without some pix it's hard to tell if it's a good deal.
Going off the description, you will probably need to source an i motor (there is one in the Portland Craigslist right now for 450 with harness) then go through the car to bring up to race ready (brakes, suspension, fire bottle, drivers net...etc.)
One thing to keep in mind if you go this route, is keep your goals in mind. If your number one goal is to get on the track, then don't worry at first about having a hot suspension or data tracking system, fuel cell..etc, just stick with stock, and upgrade the necessary stuff (safety bits, brake pads..etc.)1991 325i MT2 Touring (JDM bro)

And you would want to verify the cage meets ICSCC specs. IF the cage does not meet specs the car won't be allowed to run. There are stories (not many luckily) of guys winging it on a cage, then having to cut it out when it did not pass inspection.Lance Richert '88 M3, #35 PRO3, i3 etc.
