If it is anything like the e36 springs do not need to come out. It is actually pretty simple to do. I have to leave for work now but I will get pictures off my phone that show how to do it when I get back.

It's nothing like the e36. You need to nearly disassemble the entire rear end.

Make sure you have a tool to press the old bushings out and press the new ones in.

Yes. Just pull the shock bolt(which you have to do anyway) and they should come out (unless you have stock springs, and still maybe even then). I did mine at the same time as rear subframe bushings so I had to drop the whole subframe. You could just pull the trailing arms but I could see getting the arms lined up with the holes in the subframe a big pain if you are laying on your back with no room to work.

It's a pretty involving process to do it right. You may as well take the whole rear suspension out.

Do your subframe bushings while your in there and pull out your entire rear subframe. Little more work but worth it in the end.

No like dropping the rear subframe and removing the half shafts. Brakes need to be removed too.

As mentioned before, make sure you have a tool to get them out

Just did mine , no tools needed.Heat the trailing arm up a little with a propane or mapp gas torch til the rubber gets soft and drive them out with a hammer or air hammer.

If you have all the parts ready and waiting expect to spend the majority of a day. Are you getting OEM or poly? Rubber bushings will probably need to be taken somewhere to be pressed in and lengthening the process.
