I can's say anything that hasn't really already been said, but yes the M3 seats use the same stitching and covers as the convertible but with the coupe tilt-mechanicals. The padding, frame, headrests, sliders and back panels are all the same throughout the E30 range.
They are a bit high in price if you ask me, for that price I could get a set of coupe seats and recover them in new M3 pattern upholstery. I'm actually in the process of doing just that, just waiting for my kit from creative options.
M3 seats are lined with gold, making them approximately 2-3x more expensive than other E30 seats.
Okay, not really but honestly $500 seems to be the good condition asking price. I'd say low condition is about $300 and excellent being up to $800. So His price is right in the middle. And as Lance already stated, somebody will pay his asking price.
