If you were in PDX I would give you a hand. Suspension installs on these cars are very straightforward, the rears are a breeze. The fronts take more time but are easy. Just make sure you get a ball joint separator to pop the control arm and tie rod out. You will also need a spring compressor if you are reusing your factory housing

Are they already welded and assembled?

              Here you go:

How to install coilovers on your e30 Notes Main focus on the front passenger side and touched based on the rear. The front driver side is identical except for the fact that the brake wear indicator sensor wiring is only on the front driver side and right rear passenger side, its just a wiring harness you need to unplug

Get one of these if you can, it will make your life a lot easier.

Also you will have to change over the front wheel bearings. Here is a good article on that.
Are you starting to hear a grinding, wobbling noise coming from your front wheels? Have you noticed a wheel that shakes when you drive? Chances are the wheel bearings may be starting to fail.

I would NEVER suggest just letting the top nut loose pointing away from you slowly. Ever.

HE won't have to because they are already assembled. BUT I've done it before, and while VERY dangerous and largely a VERY bad idea... it's fun...

Unfortunately I don't have time in my schedule to lend a hand... but it is straightforward. And a ball joint tool would be nice, but you can manage if for some reason you aren't able to get a hold of one. Pounding on the strut tube area that surrounds the ball joints will eventually vibrate the ball joint loose. Do not hammer the threads. Do not hammer the ball joint. Do not hammer the control arm / tie rod. Hammer the side of the small area that circles the bolt holding the ball joint to the strut housing. I've never used a ball joint tool, but I can imagine it's a much better, and easier, process.

Works fine on stock shocks, they're so soft.

Place bottom of strut against a wall, one foot on the spring, blast the top nut with electric impact. Done.

I always removed the top nut with the car on the ground. Then raised the car.
