    University of Washington Surplus

Didn't know if you guys have all heard about this place... but damn good deals to be had.

I only bring this up because I mentioned to my Mom today I need a file cabinet (I am going to put it on casters and store detailing supplies in it) and she reminded me.

Looks like they right now have some nice janitor style carts and other things you all might be interested in.

I remember going to the old Boeing surplus place. Shittons of 486's and Pentium 1's!

Man, they moved that place. They use to have it in the dinky basement underneath the UW Police Station on Boat Street. You would have to walk through where the Police parked their cars by the ship canal to get to the store. I still haven't figured out if this new place has free parking though.

UW Surplus has tons of stuff at a decent price, from normal to weird. Sometimes, you can get weird stuff like used dentist chairs. They also do auctions for some of the bigger stuff (cars, trucks, or if you're like me, Formula SAE cars).

It's open to the public every Tuesday, but if you're representing a UW department, you can make an appointment and go at anytime. That place is pretty cool.

New place is so damn convenient, right by the old blockbuster across from U-Ville.

I think that the only free parking is over in U-Ville, but that you can load stuff up at the actual surplus. Not entirely sure though, I'm at work on Tuesday-day when the public can go in.

I picked up one of these card catalog cabinets at a Frederick & Nelson surplus auction.

Super handy in the garage for holding various tools, etc etc in lots of easy to access drawers. Tall and slim means it does not take up a lot of floor space. These look like the same brand, so they are probably built like tanks, super heavy, and the cabinets open smoothly on ball bearings.

^It's a decently cool place to check out. If and when you're on campus on a Tuesday, just swing by it.
