Automotive aerosol paint in PDX? Apologies if this has been asked
+1. I spent a ton of time cleaning and masking before I painted mine. With all the time invested to get it ready to paint, you should do it right.
Try cleaning it first and see how it looks.
There is nothing wrong with using rattle cans. It can be done "right" with rattle cans. Like said, you must be diligent with your prep work, and be good at spraying paint. If you are, it will look good. Even if you spray it poorly, you can always color sand and hit it with a high speed to get the shine.
I painted my car with a friend of mine. If he hadn't had a good compressor and professional gun, I wouldn't have done it, but I would not be afraid to aerosol an engine bay. Not everyone has access to a compressor with enough flow capability and a good gun.
Steve - how much are you needing? I found my paint during my move this weekend and I'd be willing to send it your way considering my baby wont be needing new paint after I get him back
A couple cans I think? Though now I'm worried about how cold it'll be...
