WTB: Engine related things (plus a question or two)

Car is caged, now it's time to get her running.
Please keep in mind I'm in college and I own an e30 and it's gonna be a racecar aka I'm on a tight budget.

Car is 84' e, engine from 89' is, if it matters
    WTB:

173 DME: gonna chip it anyway so it doesnt need to have one, must work though

    Head studs: must be new

OEM injectors: I have 19lbs that came with the intake manifold I bought, I'll do straight trade for some nice stock ones.

VDO cluster: car is an 84, engine is 89 I think vdo is what I want

    Questions:

Which gasket set is best? Autohauz? IE? Any suggestions?

Anyone done a square to round connector main harness swap? Any links to how-to?

Engine shops, other than accurate, you'd recommend in the Seattle area? I wanna get the head checked and replace valve seals before it goes on.

    Thanks in advance,

    Kevin

Yes, well I was referring to the complete kits offered by various online retailers, I've heard victor reinz is bad but they all come with that head gasket...I'll have to search harder.

fel-pro makes good gaskets. Most of the ones for BMW's are made in germany too. Elring is good and so is goetze. Avoid victor reinz for anything important. I was a little annoyed when I ordered some altrom gaskets that were listed as elring at NAPA and they ended up reinze. But for exhaust gaskets, I'll get over it --- I'm convinced that the reinz headgasket was part of the reason the gasket blew on my m20 but can not offer a scientific reason.

oh yeah, I have a set of stock injectors but they need servicing (cruzin, witchhunter, five-o, etc). The plastic baskets are brittle and the o-rings needed attention, so I took off those tidbits. Plus, they should be flow matched anyways. If you want them, I'll send them to you for $20 shipped. Out of an 89 325i with 12x,xxx miles.

This is not the first I've read about the crappiness of the Victor Reinz head gaskets. The advice came from some of the e30 racers, and it was just to bite the bullet and buy the BMW one. I just looked at they're about $100. Yeah, that's $80 more than the Victor Reinz price, but what's a blown head gasket worth to you?
