Restaurants in Seattle

Taking the lady friend out to a "romantic" weekend in Seattle in a few weeks for our anniversary. Were staying downtown, anyone know of any good dinner/breakfast restaurants worthy of going to? Iive been to too many shitty expensive restaurants.

There are a bunch, if you are downtown and like steak The Metropolitan Grill ($$$) and Daniels Broiler ($$$) are both good. Toward the space needle Dalia Lounge ($$) and Serious Pie ($$, pizza) are really good as well. If you like seafood there are lots of good places. Seastar is good, Anthony's isn't bad, Mccormick & Schmicks is really tasty. If you are looking for an INCREDIBLY good lunch/dinner burger or sandwich i highly recommend "The Counter" in Ballard or Honey Hole on Capitol Hill.

Wild Ginger is nearby for really good Thai food, nice atmosphere as well. Ipanema Brazilian Grill is close too but a little expensive. As mentioned earlier, Metropolitan Grill or The Capital Grille are really nice, Purple is a fancy wine bar with awesome food. I'd say most of these places are within 10-15 minute walking distance from Pikes Place.

Beth's Cafe is legendary....12 egg omelet, been on Man vs. Food etc. Sorta far from down town, but very worth it. It's open 24 hours and has some of the best (cheaper) breakfast i've ever hard. Plus it's just sorta cool

Beth's is on 99. It's not to far from down town. Once you finally get on 99 its no more then 15 minutes of driving if that. If your a breakfast guy you will like it.

Are you going to have a car? If so, take your girl to Kerry Park on Queen Anne Hill at night. It's a romantic spot with the best view of the city that you will find.

Well here goes:

Seattle has some fantastic seafood. Ivar's restaurants are pretty good; you'll just have to go to the actual restaurants itself and not the clam chowder stands. If you like oysters, Washington does a ton of oysters, and the Walrus and the Carpenter is a pretty well known oyster bar. It's always been fresh and delicious whenever I went; however the wait for a table is almost always really long. Otherwise, Elliot's Oyster House on the waterfront has a Progressive Happy Hour that starts at 2pm, where oysters on the half shell are 50 cents each, and then it goes up in price by $0.25 per half hour until it reaches it regular price.

In downtown itself, any of the Tom Douglas restaurants should be good (The Dahlia Lounge, Lola, Palace Kitchen, etc.). If you're looking for Japanese food, there is a fusion-ish sushi/rolls place called Japonessa that's really good. They have a happy hour that's almost always going on, and prices during said happy hour is pretty reasonable. Chinese food in Seattle is meh, there's nothing to really write home about (you'll have to go to Vancouver BC/Richmond for that, but I digress). Toulouse Petit Kitchen does French and Cajun/Creole food; the food was quite good, but it was also quite pricy; I'm not sure if it was completely worth the price. Someone else already mentioned it, but I've heard good things about Purple Cafe and Wine Bar.

For breakfast foods, Beth's is legendary in this area, but it's really just greasy spoon food that's best eaten when you're really drunk. They are most famous for their 12 egg omelet with unlimited hash browns that's served on a pizza plate. I finished the whole thing once and I could feel the heart attack coming. Other than the 12-egg omelet though, Beth's is not that great. Otherwise, a really popular breakfast place is the Portage Bay Cafe. Breakfast/brunch is their specialty. During the weekends, it's always packed. I'm not a big breakfast person, but they do a nice variety of breakfast foods and I thought the food was really good when I went last time.

I'll be going to Serafina (Italian food) in about a week. The reviews on Yelp looks pretty good, but if you want, I'll report back about how it is.

All of the places listed so far are good! Joey's is good too but one of my favorites is Ipanema $40 per person for dinner for all you can eat steak and meat, about 15-20 different kinds of meats (wild boar, buffalo, lamb, shrimp and every kind of steak) and whatever you want from the salad bar.

Jak's Bar and Grill, awesome steaks and burgers, but they have really freakin great breakfasts too.

Also, if you have a car and want some mexican or latin american breakfast try Senor Moose in ballard. Goddamned amazing food, can be a long wait on a sat/sunday morning.
