    Recycling cat converters locally

So no-one bought my m20 down-pipes, so I cut my cat off and junked the down-pipes. I know there is a fella on this forum that you can mail your cats too, and after shipping you'll get some money. Although I prefer to do stuff like this locally, I'm weary of some meth head from CL coming to my house to pick up a cat.

Anyone know a place or reputable person in Oregon that pays decently for cats?

title edited for the odd thinkers. For the record, my family and I are supporters of Salem Friends of Felines, and have adopted three rescue kitties in the last 4 years. We're pushovers for animal hard luck stories.

If any one of you guys has sold their catalytic converter to the guy here on the board through the mail, can you PM me a review (how much you got less your shipping costs)?

Steven (luckyhenriksen) has been getting around $120 for his. Might be worth asking him who/where he sells them to.

If you find the right place, yes.

I think the guy local to me is paying ~$150-160 right now for M20 OEM cats.

If you don't have anyone local that pays decent, you would be wise to sell to someone via the internet- it doesn't cost that much to ship a cat once the pipes are cut off. The guy who posts WTB ads on the board seems to be a legit buyer- but I'd try to find someone local first.

BTW- I'm NOT in the PNW......

I've sold locally to the guy who posts WTB's and I met him. He's a nice enough guy, but his prices have come way down.

hi, i buy cats. but as mentioned prices are down. prices revolve mainly around prices of platinum and palladium...both of which are tanking..especially this week. about 3 months ago platinum was around $1800, palladium around $900. Now PT is around $1350, palladium $620...so as you can see about a 33% decrease in pricing from 3 months ago.

^ I didn't even think to check the spot prices. Thanks. In addition to the cat, my tubs o' scrap aluminum should probably wait till it's back over a dollar a pound. We'll see how long it takes for the wife to start complaining.
