Can I borrow someones time?

So I just purchased some DTMfiberwerks flares for my early model with the knowledge that I'll have to modify them to fit a bit. Their website shows "some modification required on 84-87 model rear flares". I just got them in the mail and I was hoping I could borrow someones late model for about 30 seconds to put the rear flare up and see if just a late bumper swap would take care of it. The flares themselves stop about 2.5-3" shy of the rear bumper plastics on my car. It's a horrid gap.

I don't think it will fill the gap. Once swapped, the (modded) plastic bumper on an early model won't sit any higher than the stock DB bumper surrounds.
This is also the issue of trying to swap iX (US spec late model) fender flares onto an early model. There's a gap in the rear.

I've been playing around with it and looking at a ton of pictures and it looks like if I just cut off the factory fender lip it'd drop right into place. The early lip sticks out and occupies the same space the flare would go. Without it, the flare would drop farther down against the bumper. Do you have a side shot of that car? Or a build thread or something?

When swapping to plastics on the back, you have to cut them down, then smooth and paint. That's why there are a lot of people with only the front bumper swapped. Once you're done with all the modification, it sits in the same place as the old stuff as kennyvb said.

The bumper does, yeah. But the fenderlip height is different, no?
