    Stupid police

Has anyone noticed that police in general not just the State Patrol is spending more time picking the fly $hit out of the pepper with drivers lately?

Let me just start by saying I'm a responsible driver for the most part. I have fun in the E30 like we all do but I stop at stop signs, signal correctly, don't cut people off and don't talk on my phone while driving.

I've been pulled over twice within the last 3 months. The first was on a stretch of road between Marysville and Everett that is 55mph, drops to 45mph, then 35mph in about 200 feet. The officer said I was going 60 in the 45. I was in the 55 and she was in the 45. I was driving the gf's E46 leisurely with traffic.

Today I left the house to get milk. Just cruising and minding my own. Pull up to turn left at a light and notice a State Patrol in the right lane. My light is green and I start to go. Bam, lights go on and im pulled over. Officer states he pulled me over for not wearing a belt. This is where I admit I did forget to put it on but... I know he didn't see through my tint at my black jacket and my missing black belt. So after I get my nifty ticket I put my belt on and proceed to drive off when he gets on his loud speaker yelling "get that belt on". This further reaffirmed the fact he couldn't actually see.

I guess I'm ranting because I sit here and see the crime rates going up around the state yet all they do is increase traffic patrols to raise revenue. Heck, on Saturday we were in Everett and seen a homeless guy jump on a hood of a driving car. We called 911 and waited 30+ minutes with not one cop showing up. Its all about the money I guess....

I agree, I feel like as you go more north the cops get more anal about stupid things. I live in bellingham and a cop will go completely out of there way to pull someone over if they don't have a front license plate. Like they will book it around cars just to pull you over.

I have never been pulled over for this until I moved up here

      220 dollar ticket too

      All about that money..

A few months ago cops started going crazy over here, you can see them on every corner. They pulled me over twice in the last two weeks for no reason

            Hahahaha I bet.

Seriously man, when I drove my chipped Superduty on 37's I never got messed with. I had illegal tint, no flaps, and no front plate. Now in the E30 I get pulled over for no reason.

My parents let me know that the Local and State Patrol are cracking down on the stretch between Smokey Point and Everett just to give everyone else a heads up. They say there has been a lot of collisions as a result of speed. I believe it, I typically drive 5 over and recently have been getting passed in theses areas like I was stopped. Especially with the Tulip festival started and the weather getting nicer there are going to be more tourists on their way through typically resulting in more crazys on the road.

Try to have high eyes and be on the look out for undercovers and motorcycles that like to hide and you should be alright. Havent had a ticket in 4 years (knock on wood) with a couple of close calls, just by having high eyes and seeing the cop well in advance giving me the opportunity to slow enough down.

Sucks to hear about the seat belt ticket

                another perspective

What I've noticed is the huge # of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in Washington and Oregon recently. I have many friends in law enforcement and for the most part they are quality men and women. We have three State Troopers here on the coast of Oregon and they heavily patrol the 15 mile stretch between Mapleton, where I live, and Florence 15 miles to the west. The speeders are mostly people rushing to the casino and weekenders heading for the dunes. I drive 60 in a 55 and have never had a problem. Will be interesting to see what happens when my bright red 318i hits that road.

I live in Belleve and have never been pulled over. I do see a lot of both, cars and byke police units, and they do serious damage to the speedsters running along the Lakehills Connector, Factoria Blvd. or Richards Road.

From time to time when driving the car (weekend only) to the Starbucks, I get the looks from the police car drivers, but I figure they are just wondering what my next upgrade would/should be :p

For the most part they just want your money. Everytime I get a ticket I go to court and they reduce it to where it is not on my record but they get my money regardless.

It's because 5000 idiots that are immature/newer drivers/bros have e30's now. They're the civic hatchbacks and gsr integras of the late 90's and early 2000's now.

                      It's profiling.

I've been right here at a stealership watching it unfold.
I think WRX's and STI's are a bit more upper echelon than the typical e30 bumpkin. Those are more of the 'trust fund kids'. I highly doubt most younger bros with e30's could afford a $30-40k dollar car outright.
Point is, both groups are targeted equally.
