Death to e30 NOW PARTING OUT

Crashed it yesterday... totaled too I'm sure. It was on 405 southbound in Bellevue. I was wearing my seatbelt, but it didn't lock up properly. I hit my chin on the steering wheel and my face on the windshield and broke it. I'm OK though. The other car appears to just have a damaged bumper.

I'm going to see how much they want to buy it back. I don't have the space to keep it around and part it out completely, but I'd really like to at least have it for a week or so so I could pull off the more valuable parts.

It's nice that I had just spent like 6 hours on Monday working on it. Fixed aux fan, replaced water pump, flushed and replaced coolant, changed the oil etc. And about 20 minutes before the wreck I put $60 in the tank.

This car was bought for me in 2005 by my girlfriend at the time as a high school graduation gift. At that time I had not even changed the air filter on a car. The timing belt was broken, windows were smashed and it was overall not taken care of. I rebuilt the top end, did a shit ton of maintenance on the engine, did a full suspension overhaul, re-did the interior etc. A couple years later I built a booth in ym garage, did necessary body work and painted it in my garage with the help of a friend with a bunch of body work experience. The paint job came out wonderfully too (there's a thread on here detailing the whole process). It is just a car, but this one has a bunch of sentimental value attached to it and I am heartbroken to see it die like this.

omg dude I'm so sorry... I haven't even owned my E30 for more than 3 years and I would cry like a baby if I came to wreck or lose it. I'm sorry for your loss man. This really sucks man.

My most sincere condolences to you, sir. Best of luck finding a suitable replacement. I know the feeling and it fucking sucks ass.

On the plus side, the frame doesn't look all that bad (from that angle, at least.) Think it might be worth sticking a new core support, hood and fenders on with some paint if it means that much to you?

            Again, my most sincere condolences.

Thanks all. The "frame rails" -- both upper where the fenders bolt on and lower that have the bumper mounts -- are not straight, especially on the passenger side. I'm sure that they could be repaired by a professional, but it would be very cost prohibitive. I'm hoping that I can just get my hands on it so I can pull the stuff like side skirts, mtech spoiler, rear euro trim, heated e36 m3 sports mtech wheel etc. Not sure if I'll get another e30 to put the parts on or just sell them off and move on (for now) to something newer and more comfortable for commuting.

It can be rebuilt, faster and better! You're alive that's the important thing, I say keep it if you can or you'll regret it.
